”Murmurs of the Heart” is an animated drama portraying the stories about three couples. Vixen Fenek and Bull are both twenty-something years old, and their relationship is still in an undefined trial. Despise the clear, mutual fascination, rising fractures show differences in their life-views. A line of strongly drawn social disproportions starts falling across their relationship.

Bear and Pig are a homosexual couple. Pig is after his fifties, he is a professor in the Music Academy. Bear is much younger – he used to be Pig’s student, and he dropped his promising academic career for the sake of the relationship. Now he writes music for computer games, but mainly takes care of Pig’s son, with who he has a very warm, caring relationship. Fighting for the relationship with Pig, he needs to choose between his need to rebel and need to compromise.

Cat and Dog are the most static and stolid relationship – at least on the first glance. He is a 30-something years old writer, tied to his computer, trying to fight his writer’s block; she is two years older, a teacher, captive to rituals and small pleasures. They seem to argue the most of all the couples, as they keep on fight about details and they’re quite abrupt in their dealings, but soon we discover that from under the oppressive rhythm of mundane tasks, a true feeling peeks out, a feeling based on experience, trust and maturity. These three, seemingly unrelated couples, keep on passing each other in the dense grid of big-town contacts. Sometimes even the slightest events in one of the couple’s life, have a big impact on the other characters.
